cheddar bay biscuits
I used to love Red Lobster biscuits, so I had to veganize them! These tastes just like the restaurant fav without the dairy.
Easy
Quick
Ingredients:
2 cups all-purpose flour
2 tsp baking powder
½ tsp baking soda
Pinch of salt
1 tsp sugar
½ tsp garlic powder
¼ tsp cayenne pepper
1 cup cheddar style vegan shreds (I like So Delicious brand)
1 cup original unsweetened plant milk + 1 tbsp of lemon juice
½ cup of melted vegan butter
Biscuit Topping:
1 tbsp melted vegan butter
½ tsp garlic powder
½ tsp parsley
Preheat oven to 475 degrees F.
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.
Whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, sugar, salt, garlic powder, and cayenne pepper in a large bowl. Add cheddar shreds and set aside.
In a medium sized bowl, combined the plant milk and melted butter until small clumps are formed.
Add the milk mixture to the flour mixture and combine just until a dough forms and no dry ingredients remain.
Drop heaping spoonfuls onto prepared baking sheet about 1 inch apart.
Bake until golden brown, about 12 minutes.
While biscuits are baking combine topping ingredients in a small bowl and mix well.
Once baked, remove biscuits from the oven and immediately bush them with the topping mixture.
Allow biscuits to cool for about 5 minutes before serving.
Enjoy!
